Google and FIBA will collaborate with ESPN to broadcast six games live on the network — the most ever shown from the women’s tournament

In an effort to raise the profile and expand the popularity of women’s basketball, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has announced Goggle as the first-ever Global Partner of Women’s Basketball.

The partnership will tip-off at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup which will be held in Sydney on September 22. Google will also be the exclusive presenter of the ‘All-Star 5′ - recognizing the best players of the tournament.

“This partnership promises great things for women’s basketball and the interest in the game globally. Google and its worldwide reach opens countless possibilities to push women’s basketball in the future and we look forward to working with them to enhance the game and attract new fans.” said FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis.

“We are excited to work with such a prestigious brand with whom we share the same strategic goals in regard to women’s development,” he said.

Through the landmark partnership, Google will continue to enhance the coverage and visibility of women’s sports. Over the past two seasons, Google has been a ‘WNBA Changemaker’, working with ESPN and the league to deliver more nationally televised games and unique WNBA content.

Through a collaboration with ESPN, Google and FIBA will distribute the entire Women’s Basketball World Cup in the U.S. Six games will air exclusively on ESPN2 and ESPNU, making the 2022 World Cup the most accessible women’s basketball event in history. Fans can also watch the remaining games live on FIBA’s YouTube channel and the remaining games on FIBA’s Courtside 1891 subscription streaming platform.
