The 2022 Asian Games will go on as scheduled, just not in the exact time frame as previously planned.
Originally set for September, the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China were postponed back in May due to concerns about COVID-19. The Council of Asia (OCA) announced the new dates for the Games will be September 23 to October 8, 2023.
Since postponing the event in May, the OCA has worked hard with the Chinese Olympic Committee and the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee to find a new schedule that wouldn’t conflict with other major sporting events.
“The OCA thanks the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee, the Chinese Olympic Committee, as well as the governments at all levels for ensuring the Games can take place next year,” said the OCA in a statement.

They also expressed their appreciation by various National Olympic Committees and other international and Asian federations.
The Asian Games have previously visited China twice before when Beijing hosted in 1990 and Guangzhou hosted in 2010.
