The U.S. Figure Skating’s Board of Directors has approved the nomination of Patricia St. Peter for the open International Skating Union (ISU) presidency post.
She served as U.S. Figure Skating president from 2009-14, and has served as a member of the ISU Disciplinary Commission from 2004 to 2006. St. Peter has also been a member of the ISU Council for the past six years.
“Patricia has the vision, experience and expertise needed during this critical time for the ISU,” said U.S. Figure Skating President Anne Cammett. “She is prepared to lead the organization through these challenging time and to ensure an even better future.”
Earlier this year current ISU President Jan Dijkema announced he will be stepping down at the end of his current four-year term. He is only the 11th president in the ISU’s 130-year history.
Dijkema, 77, was elected by acclimation in 2018 and said he rejected requests to serve another term.
“This is a defining moment for the ISU,” said St. Peter. “The decisions we take now, together with all ISU members, are vital to ensure the ISU becomes stronger and achieves its vast potential.”
St. Peter said she will release her full presidential manifesto in the near future.
The ISU Congress will be June 6-10 in Phuket, Thailand. The elections will take place on June 10.
