After winning gold medals in the women’s halfpipe in PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022, American snowboarder Chloe Kim has confirmed her intention to make it three-for-three at Milano Cortina in 2026.

“As of now, the plan is most definitely to go after a third medal,” Kim told Cheddar News.

Kim, who turns 22 on April 23, told The New York Times previously she would likely retire before she was 26. She does plan to take off a full season, however, to focus on her mental well being.

The snowboarder has been honest and open about her mental health struggles, and is looking forward to a break from the sport.

“I just want to enjoy this moment, and then get back to it when I’m feeling ready,” she said.

“A lot of the pressure I feel is mostly from myself. I have high expectations for myself. I want to be the best snowboarder I can possibly be, and if I can’t do that, it’s frustrating.”

Kim was the youngest woman ever to win snowboarding Olympic gold, taking the top spot on the podium in PyeongChang at just 17-years-old. She then became the first woman to win back-to-back halfpipe golds with her victory in Beijing this past February.
