Noah Lyles and Erriyon Knighton will resume their rivalry as the two young sprinters look to square off in a 100m battle on Saturday.
Lyles, 24, and Knighton, 18, finished third and fourth in the 200m in their Olympic debuts in Tokyo.
Lyles the 2019 World Champion, had the fastest 200m time in the world in 2021 while Knighton, became the youngest competitor in the event since Jim Ryun in 1964.
Both will now run the 100m in Bermuda and assuming they both qualify, the match-up should make for ‘must see TV’ on NBC, Saturday from 2:30-4:30pm EST.
Kenny Bednarek, the reigning Olympic silver medalist in the 200m, withdrew from the event due to an injury but Ronnie Baker, who was fifth in the Olympic 100m, will be in the field.
Other prominent American athletes in Bermuda include Olympic silver medalist Grant Holloway and Tokyo bronze medalist Gabby Thomas.
In other events, Shericka Jackson of Jamaica returns to the 400m to face off against American athletes Lynna Irby and Wadeline Jonathas. Olympic 400m champion Steven Gardiner of the Bahamas will drop down and compete in the 200m.
Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, the Olympic 100m hurdles champion from Puerto Rico, is entered in that event and the 200m.
The expanded schedule of events for the 2022 season is part of the Journey to Gold Tour, which aims to shine a spotlight on the various facets of the sport and the athletes.
The Journey to Gold Tour is also designed to increase the engagement of the sport and prepare the athletes for the Olympic Games in 2024 and 2028.
