IOC Executive Board urges all International Federations to move or cancel events in Russia

The IOC also reiterated their strong condemnation of Russia violating the Olympic Truce

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board released a statement urging all International Sports Federations to relocated or cancel their sports events currently planned in Russia or Belarus.

The IOC currently has no events planned in Russia or Belarus.

“The International Sports Federations should take the breach of the Olympic Truce by the Russian and Belarussian governments into account and give the safety and security of the athletes absolute priority,” said the statement.

In addition, the IOC Executive Board is also urging no Russian or Belarussian national flag be displayed, and no anthem from either country be played at any international sporting event.

They have expressed their deep concern about the safety of the Olympic Community in Ukraine and stands in solidarity with them. They are also in the process of coordinating humanitarian assistance where possible.
