Xu Xin in Fast Lane at GAC GROUP 2012 ITTF World Tour Grand Finals

Top seed, XU Xin, won the Men's Singles title at the $1,000,000 GAC GROUP 2012 ITTF World Tour Grand Finals in Hangzhou, on the evening of Sunday 9th December beating Chinese National Team compatriot WANG Hao, the second seed, in the final.

XU Xin gave an awesome display to win in four straight games (11-8, 11-7, 11-6, 11-7) and thus reversed the decision of one year ago, when he had suffered defeat at the hands of WANG Hao at the quarter-final stage in London.

He departed $104,000 the richer and the owner of a GAC Trumpchi GS5 SUV car; for WANG Hao, he collected $52,000 and a GAC Gonow GX5 SUV car.

Earlier in the day, at the semi-final stage, XU Xin had beaten compatriot, MA Lin, the third seed in five games (11-7,11-9,8-11,11-6,11-9), whilst WANG Hao had withstood a spirited challenge from Chinese Taipei's CHUANG Chih-Yuan, the no.4 seed (11-4, 11-8, 7-11, 11-5, 9-11, 13-11) to book his place in the final.

Success for XU Xin in the Men's Singles event, in the Women's Doubles competition, the top prize of $50,000 went to Singapore' FENG Tianwei and YU Mengyu, with the runners up Chinese Taipei's CHENG I-Ching and HUANG Yi-Hua collecting $25,000.

At the final hurdle FENG Tianwei and YU Mengyu beat CHENG I-Ching and HUANG Yi-Hua in six games (11-13, 11-13, 11-8, 11-4, 11-3, 5-11, 11-2).

Earlier at the semi-final stage, FENG Tianwei and YU Mengyu had beaten Hong Kong's JIANG Huajun and LEE Ho Ching, the no.3 seeds (11-9, 12-10, 11-8, 10-12, 11-8), before CHENG I-Ching and HUANG Yi-Hua had overcome Korea's LEE Eunhee and PARK Youngsook, the no.4 seeds (11-4, 11-8, 11-5, 11-8).
