WADA Independent Commission to Publish Part 2 of its Report Concerning Allegations of Widespread Doping in International Athletics

Chairman Pound to deliver findings relating to leaked blood tests and conduct that may of a criminal nature

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)’s Independent Commission (IC) today announced that it will hold a Press Conference in Munich, Germany on Thursday, 14 January, at 15.00 CET. The media can participate in person or by conference call; and, a video recording will be made available on WADA’s website shortly after the event.

During the Press Conference, the IC Chair, Mr. Richard Pound, will present the findings contained within Part 2 of the IC’s Report concerning allegations of widespread doping in international athletics. Specifically, the IC will address allegations raised in the documentary titled ‘Doping – Top Secret: The Shadowy World of Athletics’, which alleged that ARD and The Sunday Times had obtained a leaked database, belonging to the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), containing more than 12,000 blood tests from around 5,000 athletes in the years 2001 to 2012. The Report will also include the IC’s findings on conduct that may be of a criminal nature as well as contrary to World Anti-Doping Code rules.

The IC Report, Part 2 will also be made public via WADA’s website at the start of the Press Conference.

Mr. Pound, who was the Founding President of WADA, will be joined by fellow IC members Professor Richard H. McLaren and Günter Younger.
