The International Luge Federation elite are about to compete in the competition’s 40th winter season. This will
be Viessmann’s 21st year as title sponsor, but the heating system manufacturer’s involvement stretches back further than that.
Viessmann has been a supporter of winter sports in general, and the FIL in particular, since 1993, meaning that 2017 will mark a
quarter of a century of involvement. During this silver jubilee season, Viessmann is again set to sponsor the 47th FIL World Championships (January 27-29, 2017) on the Olympic track in Innsbruck.
When Viessmann began its sports sponsorship nearly 25 years ago, the objective was to increase brand awareness, expand its positive image, and to boost its market partners’ identification with the company. And the concept certainly worked – awareness of the company increased from 50% to more than 80% in a short span of time, and the desired image transfer was also achieved.
Television broadcasts of the Viessmann Luge World Cup have regularly achieved a market share of over 20% in recent years, which clearly indicates a high level of interest in the luge sport among audiences. Nowadays, it is hard to imagine international winter sports without the support of Viessmann, not only in luge, but especially not in the disciplines of biathlon, Nordic skiing with ski jumping, cross-country skiing, and Nordic combined.
The athletes who are supported by Viessmann also play a crucial role in this success. Just like the company itself, they believe in
values such as dedication, fairness and reliability. Luge athletes Tatjana Hüfner, 2010 Olympic Champion and four-time World Champion, Felix Loch, Olympic Champion in singles in 2010 and 2014 and five-time World Champion, Julian von Schleinitz, former Junior World Champion, and the current Olympic Champions and three-time World Champions in doubles, Tobias Wendl/Tobias Arlt, all compete in Viessmann colors.
