The new look for Vancouver 2010 leans to greens and blues. The New Look in Vancouver
It's called the look of the Games and you'll see it everywhere on the road to 2010. It will show up throughout the city on buildings, banners, billboards, signs and clothing worn by Games staff and volunteers.
The official Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics graphic identity was unveiled Wednesday at a Vancouver Board of Trade lunch.
The look is strong on hues of blue and green and is an evolution of the angular pre-Games look.
The new look is an undulating collage of mountains and trees and Vancouver landmarks and icons. Colors include mist, moss, cloud, coast forest and winter ocean with textures like wood grain, cobblestone and rain cloud.
Also released are the pictograms for each of the 19 Olympic and five Paralympic sports. The silhouettes are a creation of Irene Jacobs of JAC Design in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
The new look for Vancouver will debut at www.vancouver2010.com beginning Sept. 18. The website has been redesigned to make it easier for use by ticket-buyers, who will take part in the first wave of sales next month.
