(ATR) The Vancouver 2010 torch heads north through British Columbia into the province of Yukon on Day 5 of the journey through Canada.
Monday highlights include an assortment of celebration performances. The flame was greeted with an aboriginal tribal dance ceremony in Courtenay. The evening was wrapped up with a more modern hip-hop dance celebration following by First Nations dancing in Campbell River.
Today, the flame began travel through the town of Sandspit. The flame continues to through Skidegate where it will travel in a carved single cedar log canoe named Lootas.
The torch will then persist onward to Queen Charlotte, Taku River Tlingit, Atlin and then to the Provincial capital of Whitehorse where a diverse celebration is scheduled.
First Nation singers, dancers and drummers begin the welcome in Whitehorse followed by a blues rock music group, a hip-hop and break-dancing youth ensemble and an original Yukon song composed of a choir and local musicians.
The torch relay will rest the evening in the city of Kwanlin Dun along the banks of the Yukon River.
