USA Triathlon today announced the launch of its USA Triathlon National Events mobile application, available now for free download on iPhone and Android devices.

This interactive app is designed to provide event information and athlete tracking for competitors and spectators at USA Triathlon’s four owned National Championships: Collegiate Club & High School, Duathlon, Youth & Junior and Age Group.

The app was provided to USA Triathlon through its new official National Championship timing partner, US Timing Authority, which utilizes MYLAPS Timing Technology for its timing services. US Timing Authority was able to partner with the MYLAPS Experience Lab to deliver the interactive app.

"The USA Triathlon National Events app will be a fantastic tool not only for athletes, but also for friends and family following the races both onsite and at home," said USA Triathlon National Events Director Brian D’Amico. "Through our partnership with US Timing Authority, we have created an app that will elevate athletes’ National Championship experiences to a new level."

The app’s functionality includes athlete tracking, which allows spectators to follow the progress of an athlete as he or she races through a National Championship course. Spectators can receive updates via Facebook, Twitter, push notification or text message when an athlete passes a checkpoint or crosses the finish line.

Overall race results and a race leaderboard will also be accessible through the app, and push notifications will alert athletes of critical event details or changes to the event schedule. Additional app features include fun, event-related selfie filters, in-app race registration and volunteer signup, and complete event information and schedules.

Live tracking, results and leaderboards can also be found on a web browser-based version of the app. The web browser version can be accessed through the following links for each National Championship event: Collegiate Club & High School, Duathlon, Youth & Junior, Age Group.

The USA Triathlon National Events app can be downloaded on Apple devices through the Apple App Store and on Android devices through the Google Play Store. Simply search "USA Triathlon National Events" to locate the app, or click the links below.

The first national event to utilize the app will be the USA Triathlon Collegiate Club & High School National Championships, set for April 21-22 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
