USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex to host 2nd Annual Softball Breakthrough Series June 12-14

OKLAHOMA CITY — The USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex is excited to welcome the 2nd annual Softball Breakthrough Series June 12-14. Hosted by Major League Baseball and USA Softball, the Softball Breakthrough Series will host a diverse group of 60 high school softball players from across the nation in a special development camp atmosphere that will also serve as a showcase for collegiate recruiters. They will be coached by some of the nation’s top softball figures, including Olympic Gold Medalists Jennie Finch and Sheila Douty. Also serving as an instructor is Sue Enquist, a member of the National Softball Hall of Fame who served as the Head Coach for UCLA Softball for 27 years. Coaches at the event include U.S Olympians, NCAA National Champions, and USA Softball and MLB Youth Academies Instructors.

An extension of the Baseball Breakthrough Series, which was established in 2008, the Softball Breakthrough Series is completely expense-free for participants. Attendees will have the opportunity to showcase their skills to college recruiters while receiving on-field instruction and presentations from experienced staff members, which includes Finch, Enquist and other former NCAA student-athletes. Starting today, athletes will participate in defensive and offensive workouts and breakout sessions with instructors, including base running, situational offense and defense and hitting. The workouts will continue through Tuesday morning before the participants play in exhibition games beginning at 4:15 p.m. CT. The action concludes Wednesday with additional exhibition games.

Throughout the Softball Breakthrough Series, athletes will hear from instructors through Q&A sessions and presentations from Finch and Enquist. Participants will also hear from Renée Tirado, Vice President of Talent and Diversity & Inclusion for Major League Baseball, and NCAA Compliance Officers from the University of Oklahoma.
