USA Luge and World Financial Group, Inc. (WFG) announced Friday a two-year agreement making WFG an Official Sponsor of the luge national governing body in the United States.
The sponsorship is retroactive to October 1, 2016, and contains a clause to extend the arrangement beyond the fall of 2018. WFG was a USA Luge sponsor from 2007-2014.
"We are very happy to welcome the return of World Financial Group to our family of sponsors and suppliers," said Gordy Sheer, USA Luge Director of Marketing and Sponsorships. "Their partnership was valued in its first iteration. Now, as we work our way to the PyeongChang Winter Games in just 14 months, their contribution will have a direct impact on our athletes training and performances as we strive to reach the podium again in South Korea."
USA Luge has won five Olympic medals in its history.
Based in the Atlanta suburb of Johns Creek, WFG’s long-standing mission has been quite simple: to help families have better financial futures so they can achieve their dreams – no matter what they may be.
As an Official Sponsor, WFG is entitled to use all USA Luge logos and marks on its promotional materials. The company logo will appear on team race suits in the 2016-2017 season, and will be added to all USA Luge apparel in 2017-2018.
In addition, USA Luge will provide team members for the WFG annual convention that has had more than 30,000 associates in attendance in recent years. The athletes will meet and greet the attendees, sign autographs and pose for commemorative photos.
"We are very excited to once again be a sponsor of USA Luge and to support these amazing athletes over the next two years as they work toward their dream of participating in the Winter Games in PyeongChang," said Susan Davies, Senior Vice President at World Financial Group, Inc. "I look forward to watching these talented athletes as they fly down the luge course at breath-taking speeds to victory."
In addition to the Winter Games every four years, USA Luge competes annually in the World Cup tour and World Championships. The team is currently in western Canada preparing for Saturday night’s World Cup races on the 2010 Olympic track at Whistler, B.C. Last week in Lake Placid, USA Luge athletes scored gold, silver and bronze medals.
Thereafter, the squad will travel to Park City, Utah for the final World Cup event of the calendar year, Dec. 16-17, on the 2002 Olympic course. A portion of that competition on Dec. 16 will air live on NBC.
The WFG brand will be visible during these events via international, national and regional news coverage, NBC and NBC Sports Network, European television networks and live streaming on the websites of USA Luge (www.usaluge.org) and the International Luge Federation (www.fil-luge.org).
