Women’s National Team Dedicates Training Facility to 24 Hour Fitness in Honor of Fitness Club Leader’s Ongoing Commitment and Support of Female Athletes

SAN RAMON, CALIF. – – As an Official Olympic Sponsor of Team USA, 24 Hour Fitness donated piece of strength training and cardio equipment to the USA Water Polo National Training Center in Los Alamitos, Calif., home to the U.S. Olympic Women's Water Polo Team. To show thanks to 24 Hour Fitness for its continued commitment and support of women’s athletics, the Women’s National team is dedicating its training facility to the fitness club leader. This state-of-the-art equipment will be used to advance the training efforts of the U.S. Women’s National Water Polo Team as they prepare for competition – including the 2012 Olympic Games in London this summer.

"Our athletes greatly appreciate the generosity of 24 Hour Fitness to provide this valuable equipment, as the U.S. Olympic women’s water polo team trains and prepares for the Olympic Games in London this summer," said Jennifer Rottenberg, chief marketing officer, USA Water Polo. "The equipment helps with their training efforts, and we applaud 24 Hour Fitness for supporting the USA Water Polo teams, as well as athletes across the country."

In addition to its donation to the USA Water Polo National Training Center, 24 Hour Fitness worked closely with the USOC to design and outfit Team USA’s High Performance Training Center (HPTC) in London. The HPTC is where Team USA’s delegation of more than 500 athletes, including the U.S. Olympic men's water polo team captain and Team 24 Hour Fitness Athlete Tony Azevedo, will prepare to compete for Olympic gold.

"I’m looking forward to continuing my training at the HPTC, as it will serve as a home away from home during the Games in London," said Tony Azevedo, U.S. Olympic men's water polo team captain and Team 24 Hour Fitness Athlete. "I, along with the rest of Team USA, am thankful that 24 Hour Fitness will provide the best state-of-the-art equipment for us in London."

Additionally, 24 Hour Fitness provides U.S. athletes with state-of-the-art equipment at three U.S. Olympic Training Centers in Colorado Springs, Colo., Chula Vista, Calif., and Lake Placid, N.Y., each which support ongoing training efforts of Olympians across the country.

Through its support of the United States Olympic Committee and many U.S. National Governing Bodies (NGBs), 24 Hour Fitness is one of the largest supporters of amateur athletics in the country and serves as the Official Fitness Center Sponsor of the 2012 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams.
