The U.S. Olympic Museum has begun demolition ofstructures located at its site. The land for the museum, donated by Nor’wood Development Group, is located on the westside of Sierra Madre Street at the terminus of Vermijo Avenue, across from America the Beautiful Park.
"The U.S. Olympic Museum is making great strides," U.S. Olympic Museum Chairman Dick Celeste said. "This is our firstvisible step in the process to create a world-class institution that will honor U.S. Olympians and Paralympians and conveythe excitement of their journey to competition."
The Museum is getting ready for its Spring 2016 ground-breaking with a site preparation effort that will include demolitionof the vacant metal building located at 234 S. Sierra Madre, removal of existing railroad spur tracks, asphalt removal, andconcrete removal. The U.S. Olympic Museum will subsequently demolish the adjacent structure at 220 S. Sierra Madre inFebruary 2016 to provide G.E. Johnson, selected General Contractor, a clean site to begin construction activities. IronMountain Demolition was selected through an RFP process to perform the demolition phases.
