Network Releases Television Schedule; Online Coverage Provides Live Access to All 36 Events
Los Angeles – October 11, 2011 – Universal Sports Network will present extensive multi-platform coverage of the 2011-2012 International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine Ski World Cup events. In total, Universal Sports will showcase 36 international competitions during the upcoming season, including the World Cup Finals, both on television and online. The network will provide more than 130 hours of total television coverage throughout the season, beginning in Sölden, Austria on Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 23. The network’s broadcast team will feature play-by-play announcer Steve Porino and analyst Doug Lewis, a two-time Olympic team member, bronze medalist in the downhill at the 1985 World Championships and five-year veteran on the Ski World Cup circuit.
The FIS Alpine Ski World Cup is the top international circuit of alpine skiing competitions, with men’s and women’s skiers competing in the slalom, giant slalom, Super G, downhill and combined, a combination of downhill and slalom. United States skiing stars who will compete include Olympic champions Bode Miller, Ted Ligety, Lindsey Vonn, and Julia Mancuso, among many others. This year’s events will take place in Austria, Finland, Canada, France, Italy, Germany, Croatia, Switzerland, Slovenia, Germany, Russia, Andorra, Bulgaria, Norway and Sweden.
Alpine Ski World Cup events will feature Universal Sports Network’s national marketing campaign alerting viewers about its transition from over-the-air distribution to a multi-platform, high definition cable, satellite and IPTV service beginning in 2012.
