(ATR)London will be the final stop for football's "party all over Europe" in 2020, theUnion of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced on Friday.

UEFA's executive committee chose 13 football associations to host matches for its 2020 European Championship during a meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.A total of 19 football associations submitted bid dossiers to UEFA in April.

In a statement on UEFA's website, secretary general Gianni Infantino said a number of reflections led to the decision to host the tournament in multiple cities.

"2020 is the 60th anniversary of the European Football Championship.Certainly, one of the purposes of this decision is to help countries who are perhaps not sure today whether they should build a national stadium--giving them the impetus to build such a stadium.

"Instead of having a party in one country, we will have a party all over Europe in 2020."

The 13 chosen football associations will stage competition in the following cities: Amsterdam; Baku, Azerbaijan; Bilbao, Spain;Brussels, Belgium; Bucharest, Romania;Budapest, Hungary;Copenhagen, Denmark;Dublin, Republic of Ireland; Glasgow, Scotland;London; Munich; Rome and St. Petersburg, Russia.

UEFA president Michel Platini came up with the idea to stage Euro 2020 in various major cities throughout the continent. The UEFA executive committee ratified the decision in 2012.
