The Management Committee of the International Cycling Union (UCI) met in Koksijde (BEL) on the occasion of the 2012 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships to be held this weekend.

In its first meeting of the year, and with the participation of two new members, David Lappartient (FRA) and Igor Viktorovich Makarov (RUS), the Management Committee awarded the UCI Track Cycling World Championships to Minsk (BLR) in 2013 and Cali (COL) in 2014.

The following UCI World Championships were also awarded at the meeting:

2013 Mountain Bike Masters: Pietermaritzburg (RSA)

2014 Para-cycling Road: Greenville, South Carolina (USA)

2015 Cyclo-cross: Tabor (CZE)

In announcing the awards, the UCI President Pat McQuaid congratulated the organisers of these forthcoming events for their commitment to cycling.

"It is with great pleasure that we note that the UCI World Championships will not only be hosted by venues that are well known in our sport such as Pietermaritzburg and Tabor – where the Cyclo-cross World Championships will be held for the third time – but also by new hosts. Greenville, Minsk and in particular Cali, which will welcome the first UCI World Championships in Latin America for 19 years, have all decided to share their enthusiasm for cycling with the UCI, which is indeed a very happy situation."

The UCI Management Committee approved the reinclusion of the Tour Méditerranéen on the UCI Europe Tour and ratified the 2012-2013 Cyclo-cross calendar – notably including Patrick UCI World Cup events at Koksijde, Roubaix, Namur, Heusden-Zolder, Rome and Hoogerheide as well as the UCI World Championships in Louisville (USA). The Management Committee also confirmed amendments to the regulations made necessary by the introduction of Mountain Bike Marathon Series races this season as well as two new events in the Cross-country Eliminator (XCE) format at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships.

Finally, the UCI Management Committee decided to postpone the first edition of the UCI World Cycling Forum, originally scheduled for 2012. The 181st UCI Congress will be held in Maastricht on 21 September.
