Children draw their wishes onto Turkcell’s ‘Wishing Wall’ during the Cross-Continental Bosphorus Swim

One of Turkey’s premier telecommunications carriers, Turkcell, helped connect people with a difference on Sunday by providing a ‘Wishing Wall’ for young children to express their support of Istanbul 2020’s bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The "Wishing Wall" was located near the finish line of the Cross-Continental Bosphorus Swim, a race which starts in Asia and finishes in Europe. Young fans painted pictures onto the wall articulating their wish for Istanbul to stage the first ever Olympic and Paralympic Games on two continents simultaneously.

Ali Kiremitcioglu, CEO of Istanbul 2020, said:

"Turkcell is an Istanbul 2020 Sponsor and an industry leader in telecommunications. I am delighted they have used their creativity to design a "Wishing Wall" for Turkish children to display their own flair and passionate support for Istanbul 2020.

"Turkey has 20 million people under the age of 20. Sport in Turkey is becoming ever more popular and 2020 would be the perfect time for Turkey and the Olympic Movement to have an Olympic and Paralympic Games in Istanbul. It will accelerate our sports development and activate new audiences for the sports movement within Turkey and throughout the region."
