(ATR) The Turkish Football Federation is throwing its name in the hat once more to host the UEFA European Championship.

The country is seeking to host the 2024 edition of the event and will submit its bid to the Union of European Football Associations on March 2.

Despite bidding failures for the 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020 editions of the event, TFF president Yildirim Demiroren believes the time is right for the country to stage the tournament.

"Turkey is the only example of a country in Europe or even the world which has made as many as 32 stadium investments in the last few years," Demiroren said at a news conference at TFF headquarters on Wednesday.

"On this occasion we believe both as a management board and a country that we deserve to get it."

Turkey’s bid is also supported by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Turkey is expected to receive competition from Germany and a potential joint bid from Scandinavian countries Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. The deadline to enter a bid is March 3 and UEFA will announce the list of contenders on March 10.

FEI Continues Partnership with International Jumping Club

The International Equestrian Federation and the International Jumping Officials Club (IJOC) have a new Memorandum of Understanding.

The previous partnership agreement was replaced due to the name change of the former International Show Jumping Officials Club (IJSC), now the IJOC, during the club's general assembly in January.

"I am delighted that under our new name, International Jumping Officials Club, the MOU has been renewed and the Club’s relationship with horse sport's governing body has developed and strengthened as hoped," IJOC resident Stephan Ellenbruch said in a statement.

The IJOC will continue to assist in FEI events bringing together all active jumping officials creating a "comprehensive and worldwide network" according to FEI Secretary General Sabrina Ibáñez.

"The FEI and the IJOC have enjoyed a cooperative relationship for many years and, with the new MOU, agree to continue working together in areas of common concern and capability, achieving the high standards of education for Jumping Officials all over the world," she states.
