(ATR) The competitions are underway for the Turin Olympics in seven events, four medals to be awarded on the opening day of competition. Events and transport are operating smoothly, says TOROC's chief executive.
"The situation is positive, all buses left on time," says Cesare Vaciago at the first of the daily briefings for reporters on the progress of the Games. The only hitch he mentioned was a later arrival than planned back in the mountains for a few athletes who tarried an extra 20 minutes after the opening ceremony.
Ticket sales are edging closer to meeting budget expectations reported TOROC spokesman Giuseppe Gattino. He says sales have topped 750,000 tickets and are 500,000 euros short of the planned 64 million euro target.
