The successful bid of China for the 2019 FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup concluded a very busy and highly successful three weeks for TSE Consulting, leading to the firm looking forward to further expansion in Asia.
The winning Chinese bid followed the successful bids from UAE Swimming for the 2020 FINA Swimming World Championships and Lausanne, Switzerland for the 2020 Youth Olympic Games. All three bids were advised and supported by team of TSE consultants – from the initial bid strategy development to the technical bid files and the preparation and delivery of final presentations.
While TSE already has a strong presence in the Middle East – with involvement in various projects in the UAE – and has its central office and many activities in Lausanne, Switzerland, the winning Basketball World Cup bid marked the first major TSE project in China.
As a result of the excitement of working with high level public authorities and sports organisations in China during the bid preparations and the successful outcome, the plans of a permanent TSE presence in the country have been accelerated. A TSE Consulting office in China would complete the firm’s international reach with existing offices in North and South America, Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
TSE Managing Director Lars Haue-Pedersen, said: "It has been three incredible exciting weeks for our firm and we are very happy about our clients’ well-deserved successes. While our bidding services generally are delivered only to our existing group of client cities, the Basketball World Cup project in China was delivered to eight Chinese cities with whom we have not worked before. The very positive experience of working with our Chinese clients combined with the high level network we now have in cities across China, has given us the last incentive to progress with our plans of the permanent TSE presence in the country. I am very confident that our experience from around the world in how cities can leverage the benefits of sports events will be valuable to many Chinese cities".
