(ATR) Organizers of the Pan American Games report nearly 750,000 of the available 1.4 million tickets are sold with only four days remaining before the opening ceremony.

Toronto Mayor John Tory says these numbers represent the most pre-sale tickets ever sold to the Pan Ams in the event’s 64 year history.

Ticket sales have steadily increased throughout June and early July in part due to special promotions from organizers and sponsors of the games.

Last week, lead partner CIBC offered tickets with prices reduced by 25 percent to celebrate the national holiday Canada Day on July 1. In order to further drive ticket sales to the most coveted events, Toronto 2015 is offering previously unreleased blocks of tickets to events that had already sold out beginning Monday.

So far, approximately 75 medal events have sold out as well as many other preliminary matches. These newly released tickets offer fans their last chance to get their spots for events such as the opening ceremony, basketball, athletics and football.

"This is the first time some of these events have been available since September 2014. As expected, we’re selling more tickets every day as we get closer to the Games. This is a great opportunity to see some high-demand events," said Toronto 2015 chief executive officer Saäd Rafi.

Athlete Village Opens

The athlete village for the Pan Am Games officially opened on Sunday. Some 7,000 athletes from 41 countries across Central, North and South America will be arriving on site between Sunday and the opening ceremony on Friday.

The village is located in Toronto’s waterfront district and is within 45 minutes of most venues for the games.

After the completion of the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games, the village will be converted into a mixed-use development with housing, condos, a YMCA and dorm rooms for the nearby George Brown College.
