(ATR) Toronto is rapidly approaching the one-month countdown to the 2015 Pan American Games.
"The buzz is building and Toronto of course will be ready for the Games," Teddy Katz, Toronto 2015 director of media relations, tells Around the Rings.
"The venues are all opening and have received rave reviews."
The 17th edition of the Pan American Games kicks off in the Ontario capital on July 10.
Katz tells ATR that "Panamania,"an arts festival taking place July 10-Aug. 25, will complement the Pan and Parapan Am Games and highlight the culture of Toronto.
"We're bringing in top acts, top singer-songwriters, from all over Canada, the U.S., Caribbean, and the Americas.
"We're trying to get people to see that they can come for the sports and stay for the party."
Over 6,000 athletes from 41 countries will participate in the Games.Competition, which ends on July 26, includes some 364 events in 36 sports.
"Several of the events will be qualifiers for the Rio Olympics," Katz says.
"And we do have eight non-Olympic sports that are part of the Games. This is, in a lot of cases, their Olympics."
