IOC president Thomas Bach and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-mooncarried the Olympic flame in Sochi on Thursday.
Bach told RIA Novosti that his exchange with Ban evoked a "very special feeling."
Around the Ringseditor Ed Hula also ran with the torch in Sochi.
Hula sayswhile it was difficult to get to the start of the relay due to road closures, the overall experience was "fantastic and heartwarming."
Olympic figure skater Tatiana Navka opened the torch relay on Thursday, while Sochi 2014 organizing committee president Dmitry Chernyshenko concluded the day's events by lighting the ceremonial cauldron.
The Olympic flame arrived in Sochi on Wednesday for the final leg of the torch relay and, ultimately, the 2014 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony.
Russian tennis player Elena Vesnina will open the final day of the torch relay in Sochi as the flame heads to the Fisht Olympic Stadium.
Olympic pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva, bobsledder Alexey Voyevoda, and figure skaters Tatiana Navka and Roman Kostomarov will also carry the flame before the commencement of the Sochi Games on Friday.
