The relay resumed in the city ofIzhevsk on Thursday. According to Sochi 2014, the line-up of over 150 torchbearers for the relay route inIzhevsk included Olympic cross-country skierGalina Kulakova and R-Sport correspondentElena Dyachkova.
"I am very glad that I had the opportunity to take part in the relay is in Izhevsk, my hometown,"Dyachkova told the press.
She added, "I'm sure that the Sochi Olympics will be held at the highest level ... Honestly, I can not wait to have the Olympics."
On Friday, the torch relay heads east for a two-day trip through the Perm region. A combined 229 torchbearers will run with the flame through the region.
The flame makes it first stop on Friday in Kungur, where Russian track star Elena Churakovawas born. Kungur is also known for hosting an annual hot-air ballooning festival.
Next the relay heads approximately 56 miles northeast to Perm, where the flame will remain through Saturday.
Russian football coachPavel Sadyrin and Olympic pair skaterTatiana Totmianina both hail from Perm.
The flame is making its way back into European Russia, and ultimately Sochi, for the 2014 Winter Olympics opening ceremony on February 7.
