The Olympic torch will travel 216.6 miles northwest to Ufa on Friday for a two-day journey through the city and surrounding area.
Ramil Salihova, atorchbearer who carried the flame during the final stage of the 1980 Olympic torch relay, will take part in the relay route through Ufa.Salihova told Sochi 2014 organizers, "I chose Ufa because it is my hometown."
Paralympic swimmerOksana Savchenko is also one of over 370 torchbearers who will run with the torch through Ufa.
Sochi 2014 says that Ufa is home to one of the best hockey clubs in theKontinental Hockey League.
On Wednesday, close to 180,000 people came to watch the torch relay cross between Europe and Asia.
The flame traveled through the city of Magnitogorsk, visiting the Ural River and the famous metallurgical combine in the city.
As part of the relay, the torch crossed over the Ural River two times. The Ural River is seen as the border between Europe and Asia, and so the torch traversed two continents during Wednesday’s relay.
Altogether, 14,000 runners will carry the torch across a distance of 38,525 miles. The flame is touring 83 towns and cities before heading back into European Russia, and ultimately Sochi, for the 2014 Winter Olympics opening ceremony on February 7.
