(ATR)In less than three weeks, voters in Calgary will cast ballots to decide whether to move ahead with plans for a bid for the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Two weeks ago the IOC confirmed Calgary as one of the three cities making a short list for the candidature phase of the 2026 bidding process. The other contenders are Stockholm and Milan.

But whether Calgary goes much further will depend on the outcome of a referendum November 13.

Organizers of the bid are conducting a public information campaign to win the majority needed to keep the Canadian bid alive. The vote is expected to be close.

Scott Hutcheson is the chair of the Calgary committee exploring the bid. He spoke with Around the Rings Editor Ed Hula earlier this monthin Buenos Aires.
