It happened once with the Renaissance, it will happen again between the 22nd and the 29th of September. Tuscany will become once again the centre of the world thanks to the Cycling World Championship, which in less then 100 days will go through Florence, Lucca, Pistoia, Montecatini Terme and Fiesole. This time around, Lorenzo il Magnifico will be a only humble spectator, while Tuscans will play the leading role.
On Saturday 29th June an exciting unconventional event will take place in Florence, in Piazza della Signoria. It is the first official initiative dedicated to the recruitment of volunteers for Toscana2013. Volunteers who have already signed up and common people who want to be a part of the championship just for one day are invited to join in this event. Florence’s heart will beat with passion and expectation for an event that has all it takes to become unforgettable.
Meeting is at 9 AM. Participants need to show up with their own cycling helmet. Then, they will stand together to form a #T13, the official brand of Toscana2013. Between the Loggia dei Lanzi and Palazzo Vecchio, the view from above is bound to be suggestive: a clear message for the whole world to see that the land of the Sommo Poeta Dante is ready to host the race and that the inscriptions to become a volunteer are still open.
The hashtag #T13 will be the symbol for Toscana 2013 on the internet, but it will also be a synonym for prestige and pride.
The unconventional event in Piazza della Signoria will be documented in detail and all material will be uploaded in real-time to the internet. All participants will be part of a great party, an unique moment, in front of thousands of viewers.
Being in Piazza della Signoria means getting a taste of the atmosphere that only a World Championship can create. We’ll meet you there on Saturday!
