(ATR) Tokyo 2020 sports director Koji Murofushi has partnered with the Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU).
Murofushi will lead a new TDMU institute dedicated to sports medicine and sports science as a part-time professor.
The former Olympian took the job in hopes of being able to provide better medical and scientific support to athletes and eventually produce more Olympic medalists in the future
"My job here is to make a smooth collaboration of sports medicine and sports science," Murofushi said on Wednesday.
"The new organization will help not only the youth develop but also aged athletes, like myself, continue to compete at the high level longer."
The TDMU's sports science institute is scheduled to open in October.
