(ATR) Members of the World Olympians Association toasted Sochi at breakfast.
The WOA, which counts tens of thousands of members across the world from Olympics this century and last, has held two functions in Sochi during the Olympic Winter Games.
On Tuesday, about 50 Olympians and gathered at the Radisson Blu hotel to hear from Claudia Bokel, the fencer and IOC member who chairs the IOC Athletes Commission, new IOC sports director Kit McConnell, and WOA president Joel Bouzou.
Among the guests were Chick Igaya, Alpine skiing silver medalist at the 1956 games, Japan’s first Winter Olympic medalist; Donna Devarona, the teenage swimming phenom from the 1964 Olympics; and Zimbabwe’s Kirsty Coventry, also a swimmer, who represents the new generation of Olympians as an IOC member.
