The Toronto 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games Organizing Committee (TO2015) and Official Broadcaster CBC, are excited to announce the release of "Together We Are One," the official song of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games. The song not only reflects the enthusiasm and camaraderie of the Games, but also represents the cultural pride of the 41 participating countries and territories.
The song, recorded by Canadian artist Serena Ryder, was chosen from among 70 submissions. The work came together through a collaborative process at Pan Am Songworks Camp, a workshop created by the Songwriters Association of Canada with funding from the Toronto 2015 commission fund, which was created to seed new and innovative art projects. Songwriters from diverse backgrounds were grouped together and challenged to write and record a song with only suggested words, images and themes as their inspiration. From this collaboration, "Together We Are One" was born.
"‘Together We Are One’ unites everybody, regardless of who they’re rooting for. It’s their song. It’s everyone’s song," says Ryder.
The song was written by Murray Daigle (also the producer), Jasmine Denham and Bobby John, with a French adaptation by Diane Cadieux and a Spanish adaptation by Celia Palli. The French version is sung by Jasmine Denham and the Spanish version is sung by Eva Avila.
"The official song is but one example where we’re elevating the Games from a sporting event to a celebration of the cultures of Toronto and the Americas," said Saäd Rafi, chief executive officer, TO2015. "In five or 10 years when fans think about the Games, it will be ‘Together We Are One’ they’re hearing in their head."
The official song is available for download on iTunes in English "Together We Are One", French "Ensemble On Est Immense" and Spanish "Unidos Somo Mas".
