Three New Directors Elected to the L.A. Sports Council Board

LOS ANGELES (March 19, 2019) – The Los Angeles Sports Council has elected three new area

business leaders to its board of directors for the 2019-20 term, it was announced today.

Joining the board are:

• Ed DeFraine, Vice President of On-Premise, Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling

DeFraine manages the company’s customer marketing assets, cold drink sales and operations. His career

spans 30 years in the soft drink industry, and he frequently shares his expertise by delivering presentations

at national industry events and meetings. Reyes Coca-Cola Beverage is the Coca-Cola bottler for

California and Southern Nevada.

• Sophie Goldschmidt, CEO, World Surf League

WSL is the global home of surfing and organizes over 180 events across multiple surfing disciplines.

Goldschmidt led the way for WSL’s groundbreaking announcement that it will award equal prize

money to female and male athletes across all WSL owned and controlled events, becoming the first

U.S.-based global sports league to achieve this. She was recently recognized among the top 30 Most

Powerful Women in Global Sports by Forbes and Adweek.

• Seth Makowsky, CEO of Makowsky Group and CEO of Poison Pawn

Through his management advisory firm, Makowsky uniquely uses the game of chess as a tool to help train

top-level athletes and executives to make the sharpest, most powerful decisions available, thereby leading

them to reach greater levels of performance.

"These three new directors will greatly enhance this organization’s role of attracting elite sporting events to

our community," said Sports Council President and CEO Dave Siegel.

The newly elected directors also will serve as directors of the Southern California Committee for the Olympic
