Moscow, Russia; 28 January 2015: The Vladimir Potanin Foundation has today opened its Olympic Scholarships programme to the global sports community. The scholarships provide financial backing for ambitious young people wanting to start or further their careers in sports administration.

Successful applicants will be fully supported to study a Master of Sport Administration (MSA) during the 2015/2016 academic year at the Russian International Olympic University (RIOU) in Sochi, the host city of the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Once at RIOU, students will develop their skills in managing sports organisations and venues. They will also acquire theoretical and practical expertise in running high-profile international sports events.

Oksana Oracheva, General Director of the Vladimir Potanin Foundation, said: "The Russian International Olympic University in Sochi is a highly regarded learning institution, one of the few across the world where students can obtain high quality training in sports management in a totally immersive sporting environment. The quality of applications we received for the last MSA shows that RIOU has already become a sought-after educational centre for developing the next generation of sport administrators. We’re anticipating this year to be even more competitive."

Candidates will be assessed by the Expert Committee of the Vladimir Potanin Foudation for their academic ability, English language proficiency and commitment to volunteer and community work within sports and the Olympic Movement. Other important criteria include leadership skills, motivation, initiative and enthusiasm.
