SEOUL, KOREA, December 21, 2009 – The entire nation’s passion to bring the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games continues to be still high as national-level 91.4% by the latest public opinion poll.
PyeongChang 2018 requested TNS to take a public opinion poll so that the telephone survey was conducted from December 10 to 11.
This poll shows that PyeongChang’s 3rd try to bid for 2018 Games has the high-level support of the Korean people as much as the previous two bids. The Games in PyeongChang will greatly contribute to the national and regional development.
The unchanged strong support means the increasing popularity of PyeongChang through the past experiences and the high expectation to the successful bid. Also, it results from both the higher confidence of the people and the increment in Korea’s brand value through its successful hosting of a number of world-class sporting events such as 1988 Seoul Olympics and 2002 FIFA World Cup.
Jai-ryong Jang, Secretary General of the PyeongChang 2018 Bid Committee said “First of all, I should appreciate the high-level strong public support. Concentrating its support and long-cherished desire on the bidding, we will be able to bring the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games to PyeongChang by all means.”
