There are less than four months left for the organization of the 2nd Mediterranean Beach Games in Patras from 25 to 31 August, and the Organizing Committee continues to prepare intensively for the Games.
The first presentation of the mascot called "Patreas" was already made. This is a seagull created by the 33-year-old Kanella Stasinopoulou, a native of Patras, who won the relevant contest. She has graduated from the School of Fine Arts and teaches art at Arsakeio School in Patras while she is involved in painting and ceramics.
As announced by the Organizing Committee, the official presentation will be held in the coming days, while commercial mascot products will be created to be sold to interested parties.
The first tenders for supplies and services will also be made immediately, and all sectors of the organization are working at full pace to enter the operational phase.
The progress of works for the Mediterranean Beach Games will be presented at the Coordination Commission’s visit to Patras on 2 and 3 May.
A detailed record of what has been done so far will be made, as well as of the outstanding issues relating to construction, creation of sports facilities, sports organization, Opening and Closing Ceremonies, accommodation, security, transport, volunteering and doping.
It will be the 5th visit of the Coordination Commission in Patras and is of particular importance as we reach the 100 day milestone before the start of the event.
The meetings of the Technical Consultants (4-7/6) and the Chiefs of Missions (5-7/6) will follow in early June with detailed instructions and information on the Mediterranean Beach Games to the representatives of the countries that will take part.
