"The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award" to Open Door of Registration for the 9th Edition of the Award

"The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award" has announced the opening of the registration door for 9th Edition of the Award, from 1st April to 31st Aug. 2017.

The Secretariat General of the Award has invited individual athletes, teams & corporations from UAE, Arab World and worldwide to submit nomination files to contest the various categories of the 9th Edition of the Award.

The Award is the greatest of its kind with respect to its various categories & financial rewards and the first ever that deals with creativity in the sports work.

Details of the 9th Edition of the Award were stated in a meeting, convened between H.E. Moaza AlMarri, the Secretary General of Award, and media representatives at DSC’s premises in Dubai Design District.

The meeting was held in the presence of H.E. Nasser Aman AlRahma, the Award’s Director, and other members of the Secretariat General of the Award.

H.E. Moaza AlMarri extended thanks & gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid AlMaktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council & Patron of the Award, and to H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the President of the UAE National Olympic Committee & Chairman of the Award, for forming the Secretariat General of the Award and assigning tasks to the Head & Members of the Secretariat General, who in turn exert hard efforts to attain the promising goals of the Award.

She also thanked H.E. Mater AlTayer, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Award, toward his constant efforts to lead the work process in the Secretariat General, support local staff & back women.

H.E. Moaza AlMarri stated: "This Award is derived from the notion & vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid AlMaktoum, the Vice President & Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who always creates better future through his distinctive initiatives. Thanks to the support & directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid AlMaktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council & Patron of the Award, and to the wise leadership of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid AlMaktoum, the Chairman of the Award & President of the UAE National Olympic Committee, the Award has attained several prestigious achievements during the last eight editions. The Board of Trustees, chaired by H.E. Mater AlTayer, has fixed successful directives as a method of work for the Award to achieve the promising development in the sports sector in UAE, Arab World and worldwide. The last editions of the Award were joined by 1538 participants; among whom were 402 locals, 961 Arabs & 175 participants from other world countries. Total number of winners during the last 8 editions were 178 winners; classified as following: 85 locals, 81 Arabs besides 12 winners from other world countries".

She added: "The affiliation of the Award into (Mohammed Bin Rashid AlMaktoum Global Initiatives – the greatest humanitarian & development initiative all over the world) confirms the vital role of sport as one of the most eminent factors to attain development, happiness & convergence among the various classes of community, countries & nations in general".

She referred that local media has presented essential role to support the hard efforts of the Secretariat General & other respective bodies of the Award to achieve the great promising goals of the event. Media is a fundamental partner in the work and it is still running efficient roles to convey the message of the Award to the sports sector and boost the culture of creativity & excellence in the sports work. Accordingly, the Board of Trustees and the Secretariat General of the Award are keen to arrange regular meetings with official persons & representatives in local media corporations to discuss & review new thoughts.

Themes of Competition in 9th Edition 2017 of the Award:

H.E. Moaza AlMarri explained that the Secretariat General of the Award has nominated the theme of competition of the 9th Edition 2017 of the Award; these are: "Best initiatives, project or program that applied creative works in empowerment of Women in Sport". She unveiled that achievements, which are eligible to contest the local, Arab or international levels of the Award, should be attained from 21st Sept. 2016 to 31st Aug. 2017.

H.E. Moaza AlMarri, on behalf of the Secretariat General, invited the sports sector in UAE, Arab World & Worldwide, to submit creative works to contest one of the various categories of the 9th Edition of the Award, as per the fixed regulations, taking into account that submission of nomination files has become easy through the smart application: www.mbrawards.ae, designed to be as an integrated gate of contact between the Award and the sports sector and to help those who desire to submit nomination files through smart phones, follow up the nomination progress and review latest news of the Award.

Categories of the Award:

H.E. Nasser Aman AlRahma, the Director of the Award, mentioned that the respective bodies of the Award have maintained the allocated amount of Award; i.e. Dhs 7.5 million. The categories of the 9th Edition of the Award, are classified as following: the Individual Sports Creativity / Team Sports Creativity / Corporate Sports Creativity, while the international participation is limited to the Corporate Sports Creativity Category for the 5th successive Edition; comprising Summer & Winter International Olympic Federations & International Federations which present distinctive initiatives to support woman sport and motivate women to serve in the sports sector".

He added: "We convened several meetings with local, Arab & international sports clubs, corporations and federations; the latest of which was the meeting with the President, Deputy President & CEO of the International Table Tennis Federation, during their recent visit to Dubai, taking into consideration that the International Table Tennis Federation’s delegation confirmed that the Federation has gained new benefits of the Award’s standards and it will continue participating in the event. In this respect, the International Table Tennis Federation will submit the nomination files for the 9th Edition of the Award, containing initiatives to enhance woman’s sport. It is the 4th time for the International Table Tennis Federation to participate in the Award’s competitions. We will arrange further meetings with several regional & international sports organizations. Invitations will be extended to all those who will participate in the upcoming SportAccord Convention, where special zone will be held for the Award to meet with official persons & representatives of participating Arab & international sports federations. We will also arrange visits to our national sports entities to explain the new details of nominations, theme of the competition & mechanisms of submitting nomination files".

Electronic Smart Refereeing:

The press meeting pointed out that the electronic smart refereeing system will be fully implemented during the 9th Edition of the Award to judge between the nominated files. The refereeing procedures will be run online and therefore each referee is able to manage his tasks from his homeland and there will be no need for them to gather in one location. Each member in the Referees Committee is not allowed to judge & deal with files submitted by nominees of his own homeland in order to ensure full transparency & integrity. In this context, referees names will not be announced.

Categories of the Award:

• Individuals Creative Sports Award Category: The award of this category is rewarded to individual players, coaches, administrators & referees who have attained sports creativities in local, Arab & international fields.

• Teams Creative Sports Award Category: The award of this category is allocated to teams which have attained sports creativities in local, Arab & international fields.

• Corporates Creative Sports Award Category: The award of this category is rewarded to sports entities which have gained sports creativities in local, Arab & international fields.

Levels of the Award:

• Local Level: allocated for athletes in UAE.

• Arab Level: allocated for athletes from all Arab countries.

• International Level: allocated for International Sports Federations & Corporations.

Achievements Qualifying for Contesting the Competition:

• Sports achievements and individual& teams sports creativities, attained from 21st Sept. 2016 to 31st Aug. 2017.

Schedule of the 9th Edition 2017 of the Award:

• Nomination files to be submitted as of 1st April 2017.

• Deadline for receiving the nomination files is on 31st Aug. 2017.

• Refereeing & preference in Oct. 2017.

• Winners to be announced on 27th Nov. 2017.

• Final Awarding Ceremony is scheduled on 10th Jan. 2018.
