The IOC Debrief of the London 2012 Games Information for the Media

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: 16 October, 2012: As a key part of the IOC’s transfer of knowledge programme, the IOC Official Debrief of the London 2012 Games will take place from 17 to 21 November 2012 in Rio de Janeiro. This event, which will be attended by members of the London 2012, Sochi 2014, Rio 2016™ and PyeongChang 2018 Organising Committees (OCOGs), as well as representatives of the 2020 Candidate Cities and other Games stakeholders, will give these future Games organisers the chance to learn from the experience and knowledge gained by their London counterparts during their seven years of preparation.

The event will consist of a combination of plenary discussions and side meetings, which will look at the planning, operational and technical elements of organising an Olympic Games, such as sport, accommodation, transport, culture, education and logistics. There will also be sessions of the debrief that will address the experience of participants at the Games such as the athletes, spectators, workforce and the media. IOC President Jacques Rogge will attend the debrief and will take the opportunity to visit some of the venues and the works in progress for the 2016 Olympic Games.

ACCREDITATION

Media representatives wishing to cover the event are asked to request accreditation by completing the form available on www.rio2016.com/sites/default/files/users/rio2016/accreditationform.doc and e-mailing it to mediarelations@rio2016.com.

The deadline for submission of accreditation requests is 31 October.

Accreditation cards will be available at Windsor Barra Hotel, where the event will take place, from 17 November.

HOTEL/MEDIA CENTRE

A fully equipped Media Centre will be offered at Windsor Barra Hotel. Transport from and to the international airport as well as for other side events will also be provided at the hotel.

Please note that the debrief meetings will not be open to the media.

A full media programme will follow in due course.

Journalists accredited for the event will have a special rate at the hotel.
