The avenues of Grozny and the lighting of the Cauldron in Magas on the Sochi 2014 Relay Route

On the 28th of January the Sochi 2014 Olympic Torch Relay was welcomed in the capital of the Republic of Ingushetia and Chechnya. On the Relay route in Magas, the youngest city and the capital of Ingushetia, 17 torchbearers participated in the Olympic procession, and in the Chechen capital Grozny, 82 torchbearers passed the Olympic Flame to each other. Presenting Partners of the Torch Relay are the Coca-Cola Company, OSAO "Ingosstrakh" and OAO "Russian Railways".

On the morning of day 113 of the Sochi 2014 Relay, the Olympic Flame was taken to Grozny's airport in Grozny on a special "Aeroflot" flight. At the air terminal, the Keepers of the flame were greeted by Chechen youths in national costumes and burkas - they lined up as guards of honor along the red carpet. Head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov, wearing the uniform of an Olympic torchbearer, surrounded by his sons, greeted the Keepers of the flame with the Lampion.

The city Stage Relay in Grozny was opened by the three-time Olympic wrestling champion Buvaysar Saitiev. In his hands, the Olympic flame began its route from the airport towards the city center.

The torchbearers, one after another, carried the fire along the main avenue of Grozny - Putin and Akhmad Kadyrov Avenue, one of the brightest transfers of Flame took place at the grand Mosque "Heart of Chechnya" - the largest mosque in Europe. Among the main participants in the Olympic parade were well known Chechen athletes, Olympic champions Jamal Otarsultanov, Apti Auhadiev Arthur Beterbiev, Rizwan Utsiev. During the entire time the torchbearers were running, the Olympic cortege was accompanied by a crowd of thousands of residents of the republic, who, young and old, greeted the Fire with their loud enthusiastic shouts. A total of 70,000 residents came out onto the city streets.

They stood and walked along the route, holding balloons, soft Olympic Games mascots, pins with company logo and posters lauding Russia, Chechnya and the Olympics. Sometimes the crowd personally joined members of the government and the leadership of the republic.

The leader Ramzan Kadyrov ran the final meters from the "Akhmad Arena". He received the Relay from the famous Russian singer, Sochi 2014 ambassador Diana Gurtskaya. Ramzan Kadyrov took the stage mounted in the center of the stadium, and lit the Cauldron. Next on the stage was a bright musical performance, local groups performed traditional dances and the Relay Anthem; Diana Gurtskaya delighted the audience with their hits.

From Chechnya the Sochi 2014 Relay went to the neighboring republic of Ingushetia. The Keepers of the flame lighted the Torch of the five times world champion in boxing, Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Republic of Ingushetia Ahmed Kotiev. He was one of the torchbearers who carried the flame along the main street of Magas. His fellow Olympians kept him company: Leila Albogachieva, a legendary climber, and the queen of Everest, Fatima Bokova, repeated world champion in kickboxing, Bekkhan Mankiyev, World Cup winner and medalist in Greco-Roman wrestling. The final torchbearer of the urban stage Relay Sochi 2014 became Rahim Chakhiev. World champion among servicemen Olympic champion took the Flame from his coach Ruslan Chapanov. He had to do it in truly extreme conditions, since the Cauldron was installed on top of the Tower of Concord, which was recently built in Magas, it is the tallest building in the capital of Ingushetia. Once he reached the height of 100 meters in a cable car of the tower crane, the torchbearer lit the Cauldron from his torch, at this point thousands of spectators were watching hem breathlessly.

Day 114 of Sochi 2014 Olympic Torch Relay will be held in the republics of North Ossetia and Kabardino-Balkaria. In Vladikavkaz the Olympic parade will take place at the stadium of the same name; the choir will be greeting the flame with Ossetian heroic songs. In Nalchik, the residents and guests of the city will gather at the "Spartak" stadium from beginning to end so that they could see the entire stage of the relay for themselves.
