Swiss Tennis stars Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka have voiced their enthusiasm for the Youth Olympic Games in two video announcements provided to the bid of Lausanne, Switzerland for the 2020 winter edition of the event.

"I have always loved the Olympic Games," said Roger Federer, recent Wimbledon finalist. "I wish I could have participated in a Youth Games – but probably not a winter edition though!". Federer went on to mention that he very much enjoyed living in Lausanne for two years, saying that this was hugely influential in his support for the bid of the Swiss city for the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games.

For Stan Wawrinka, the love story with Lausanne is even more personal as the recent French Open champion actually grew up there.

"I grew up in Lausanne and I know how enthusiastic people are about sports there. I look forward to seeing you all in Lausanne in 2020" he said.

These endorsements put a nice mainstream spotlight on the International Olympic Committee’s newly developed product, the Youth Olympic Games, an Olympic Games aimed primarily at youth aged 15 to 18.

These messages have been provided to the bid committee who will share them with the members of the IOC when the bid presents to them on July 31st, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, venue for the 127th IOC Session.
