Raffaele Chiulli, President of the Association of IOC Recognized International Sport Federations (ARISF) and President of the International Powerboat Federation UIM underscored the importance of being part of the family of world sporting organisations when he spoke at the plenary session of the 2017 FIA Sports Conference held in Geneva.

Mr. Chiulli explained that gaining IOC recognition was not easy and many people asked "why motor sport?"

He also told the audience of high level and influential motorsport leaders that IOC recognition benefits the FIA and other motor sport federations in many ways and that the Olympic movement is opening up a world of opportunities.

"We need motor sport because our champions are excellent role models for safety and environmental issues and they act as excellent ambassadors for our values. We are also very proud to have a federation such as the FIA which is striving continually for excellence" he said.

FIA Deputy President for Sport Graham Stoker added: "It means that we have added credibility as a global federation and that the sporting power operating in this room is of real value. He also mentioned that there are national sporting organisations that have contacted their National Olympic Committee and are getting help to develop their sport"

Dr. Chiulli concluded by saying that together we can build a bright future for sustainable motor sport and ARISF will play a key role in supporting all its Member International Federations.
