Chairman of the IOC Evaluation Commission for the 130th Session, Mr. Ser Miang Ng, was amazed to receive a surprise visitor as he toured the new Headquarters of the Olympic Committee of Peru and the almost completed construction site for the High Performance Sports Centre in Lima.

As the official visit of the IOC Evaluation Commission was drawing to a close, an unexpected guest arrived in the offices. Jarian Brandes, a recent Bronze Medalist in Nanjing 2014, was fitness training in the headquarters and decided to surprise the Chairman with a visit.

Presenting Mr. Ser Miang Ng with a traditional Peruvian souvenir she said "I couldn’t resist the opportunity to come and meet you again and this time, in recognition of you presenting me with my historic Bronze medal for sailing for our country, at the Nanjing 2014 Games, I wanted to return the honour and present you with a small memento from our country".

José Quiñones Gonzalez, President of the Olympic Committee of Peru said "Our young Peruvian athletes were successful in Nanjing and we are very proud of their achievements. For Jarian, it was a great honour to receive her medal from the Chairman, a fellow sailor, at the Nanjing Games, where she shared the winners podium with the Singapore Gold Medalist. Her surprise visit was well received by everyone at the meeting – we had no idea she had planned this".

Mr. Ser Miang Ng also commented "It was a delight to meet Jarian again and witness this young athletes enthusiasm for sport. I was thrilled to receive such a kind momento and it will always remind me of both my official visit to Lima, the success of my country’s sailing team in winning our first Gold Medal, and of course, my personal experiences as part of the Youth Games."

He was absolutely delighted and marked the occasion by taking a ‘selfie’ to remember the reunion by.
