The Gymnastics Trampoline World Championships will return in 2018 to St Petersburg nine years after the Russian city staged the 2009 edition, while Tokyo will host the 2019 Worlds just months before Japan welcomes the world for the 2020 Olympic Games.

The Executive Committee of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), at its meeting in Tonsberg (NOR) on 27-29 July, decided to entrust the Russian Gymnastics Federation and the Japanese Gymnastics Association with hosting the 33rd and 34th Gymnastics Trampoline World Championships respectively.

The 2018 World Championships will be held 7-10 November at the St Petersburg Sport Complex. It will be followed, 15-18 November, by the World Age Group Competitions for gymnasts aged between 11 and 21.

The 2019 World Championships, which will provide a qualifying path for the Olympics, will take place from 29 November to 1 December 2019 at the future Olympic arena in Tokyo. The World Age Group Competitions will follow from 5-8 December.

Japan has hosted the Trampoline World Championships once previously, in Osaka in 1984.

"These World Championships in St Petersburg and Tokyo will provide the perfect platforms to showcase Trampoline, Synchronised Trampoline, Double Mini-Trampoline and Tumbling. Russia has a great history in all of these disciplines with so many inspiring, world-class champions. As far as Tokyo is concerned, it's a great opportunity for the gymnasts to be able to compete for World gold in the same arena as the 2020 Olympic Games," said FIG President Morinari Watanabe.

The 2017 Trampoline World Championships will take place in Sofia, Bulgaria, from 5 to 8 November.

The EC decided also to assign the 2018 Aerobic Gymnastics World Championships to the Portuguese Gymnastics Federation.

These 15th Championships will take place in Guimaraes 1-3 June after the World Age Group Competitions (25-27 May). Portugal hold numerous Aerobic World Cup events but it will be the first time the country organises the World Championships.
