The Olympic Council of Asia signed a three-party Master Service Agreement with the Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) and Ssangyong Information and Communications Corp. (SICC) in Jakarta on Thursday.
The agreement is for Ssangyong to build the Asian Games Information System (AGIS) for the OCA’s 18th Asian Games in Jakarta-Palembang in 2018.
The integrated information service will include the competition schedule, venues, results, new records, athlete profiles, transportation and other data which is vital for the smooth operation of a major international multi-sport event.
"Cooperation between the OCA and Ssangyong is one of the requirements to make the 18th Asian Games Jakarta-Palembang 2018 a big success," said Anton Subowo, on behalf of INASGOC.
"We are confident that, with this cooperation, the 2018 Asian Games will be managed by experienced people."
The AGIS will be the brains of the 2018 Asian Games containing all the important information for athletes, National Olympic Committees, media and public.
Ssangyong CEO Seung-Gi Kim said: "We welcome the cooperation with INASGOC to support a successful Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games 2018.
"We guarantee that the information system we will provide for the 2018 Asian Games will be equal, if not better, than that for the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon because we will apply the latest technology."
SICC was established on July 1, 1981 as the first system integration company in South Korea. Its vast portfolio of sports projects includes the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea-Japan, 2006 Doha Asian Games, 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, 2011 IAAF World Championships in Daegu, 2011 Asian Winter Games in Kazakhstan, 2012 London Olympics, 2013 Asian Indoor & Martial Games in Incheon and the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.
The OCA’s Director of International and NOC Relations, Vinod Tiwari, welcomed the partnership between the experts from Ssangyong and INASGOC.
"OCA is very enthusiastic about this cooperation," he said.
"We believe that Ssangyong, OCA and INASGOC can provide an excellent information system for all aspects of the 2018 Asian Games. Ssangyong has been a good partner of OCA, and this latest cooperation assures us that the Jakarta Palembang 2018 Asian Games will be a big success."
The 18th Asian Games will run from August 18 to September 2, 2018, with 10,000 athletes and 5,000 team officials from the OCA’s 45 National Olympic Committees.
