(ATR) - The home of the ancient Olympic Games plays host to as many as ten thousand spectators today for the ceremony lighting the Olympic flame for the 2004 Games. International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge and other members of the Executive Board will be on hand as well.

Higher than normal security is place and the roadway leading to the Olympic site is closed to most traffic.

A back-up flame for the ceremony was lit by the sun in a dress rehearsal yesterday and will be used if clouds block the skies for the noontime ceremony; bright spring-time weather is expected.

More in the March 26 issue of Around the Rings.
