Sporting events: A big challenge for Cities

International major cities have always casted covetous glances at sport events’ organization. Smaller cities would also like to exist on the international scene, such as Albertville with the 1992 Olympic Games, and the Formula 1 GP of Belgium or Sochi which will host 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

However hosting sporting event remains a big challenge for cities. The diffi culty to manage them is commensurate with the return they can expect. That is why CITYevents is an annual forum to meet different protagonists of this market as well as sport federations. It is also the opportunity to take advantage from other successful events to better understand essential issues and prerequisites.

Stéphane DIAGANA, high level athlete, Athleticism World Champion and 400m hurdles record holder, will join CITYevents to share his experience of major international sport events and encourage cities to set up tomorrow’s sport events.
