SportelAmerica 2017 Program Revealed -- Conferences and Conventions

(ATR) The SportelAmerica conference heads to Miami, Florida, USA on Mar. 14 where organizers expect hundreds of business leaders in attendance.

Under the theme "Meet the Elite" participants will have the opportunity to attend numerous panel discussions on the industry's latest trends and developments as well as network with key decision makers in sport.

Among the conference panels are two centered around technology. The tech panels will concentrate on advancements in social media and more in order to "help the content industry to do better business, generate more revenue and fan interaction and help provide an understanding on how certain markets and territories, particularly the Americas work," CEO of Oceanworx - the marketing agency for all Sportel events – David Jones tells Around the Rings.

Other programs include a presentation by La Liga president Javier Tebas on "Digital Strategy, a Key Factor to increase the value on Audiovisual Rights" and expert panels with the Senior Reporter for TV Sports Markets Richard Welbirg covering opportunities for sports agencies in Latin America.

The event will be SportelAmerica’s 20th anniversary and kicks off in celebration with a cocktail party to welcome its delegates. The conference will conclude on Mar. 16.

Deadline Closing for IPC Scientific Award Nominations

Members of the IPC, sport technical committees, governing bodies, standing committees and councils can submit their nominations for the IPC Scientific Awards by Feb. 24 at 12:00 GMT.

Only one academic researcher will have the opportunity to win the award. Nomination information can be found here.

"The biennial Paralympic Scientific Award allows the Paralympic community to honor someone for their exceptional performance and contributions to the Paralympic Movement," IPC Medical and Scientific Director Dr. Peter Van de Vliet said in a statement.

The award will be presented during the 2017 VISTA Conference, which will take place from Sep. 20-23.

The three-day conference to be held in Toronto, Canada intends to bring 300 of the world's leading sports scientists to discuss topics under the theme "Opportunities and Challenges in Paralympic Sport Science and Sport Medicine Support".

Registration Open for Host City 2017

The 2017 Host City conference will take place at Glasgow’s Technology and Innovation Center in Scotland.

The conference intends to focus on how cities and organizers can work together to bid and host sustainable events. Events can range from sports championships, business expos and more.

"Host City is renowned for the highest level of speakers, content and networking. And as the event continues to grow, we ensure that it delivers the best for our large and increasingly diverse community," event director Ben Avison said in a statement.

Host City 2017 will begin Nov. 28 and conclude the following day.

Richard McLaren to Speak at WADA Symposium

Richard McLaren, head of the investigation that found evidence of state-sponsored doping in Russia, will host a Q&A session during the annual World Anti-Doping Agency symposium.

The event will be held at the Swiss Tech Convention Center in Lausanne this year.

Under the theme "Tackling our Challenges and Strengthening the Future of Clean Sport," WADA will explore topics including whistleblowing programs, boosting anti-doping and clean athletes.

WADA's Chief Operating OfficerFrédéric Donzé will open the symposium.

Also speaking at the conference will be Craig Reedie, president of WADA, along with other WADA leaders such as its Director General Oliver Niggli, members of anti-doping organizations and more.

Registration is open until Feb. 24 and information can be found herealong with a full list of speakers.

The WADA Annual Symposium will be held on March 13.
