Dmitry Chernyshenko says the marketing program for Sochi 2014 has been "very successful" even though several sponsorship categories remain unfilled with 50 days to the Games.
The CEO of Sochi 2014 said two more sponsors in the logistics and concert management categories are expected to sign agreements before the end of the year. The Sochi 2014 says four partner categories remain open.
"The Organizing Committee attracted investments worth about $1.3 billion," Chernyshenko said, adding that is three times more than the obligation listed in the bid book.
Fourteen companies in all joined the Sochi 2014 team in 2013 as Olympic partners and 9 companies, including seven TOP Sponsors, are Sochi 2014 Paralympic partners.
New Badminton Title Sponsor
MetLife insurance agreed to become the title sponsor for the Badminton Superseries for the next four years.
MetLife will have prominent coverage at 12 global events and the World Super Series Final during the 2014-17 tournament cycle.
"This partnership is a good fit as BWF and MetLife share similar goals in terms of seeking to further spread our respective brands and products globally," BWF president Poul-Erik Høyer said in a statement.
"Badminton’s international appeal has been rising. The next four years will be to our mutual benefit as the Superseries attracts the top players and showcases some of the best badminton ever."
