Thirty-three companies signed sponsorship deals with Games organizers, just days before the opening ceremony.

With the additions, 76 companies will sponsor the YOG.

"The tremendous sponsorship support for Singapore 2010 reflects the unique value proposition offered by the inaugural Youth Olympic Games," Goh Kee Nguan, CEO of the Games’ organizing committee, said in a statement.

"Not only does Singapore 2010 dovetail nicely with corporate social responsibility programmes, the Games also put our partners into a premium sports market. The 3,600 Young Olympians at the Games represent the next generation of informed, well-educated consumers. They are young experts in their sport and in their sports products."

Changi Airport Group, Adidas, Aon Insurance and Ogilvy PR Worldwide are some of the new sponsors.

The other companies will cover a spectrum from laundry services at the Youth Olympic Village, to transport logistics, and temporary power at venues, and other areas.

Youth Olympics sponsor Samsung hosted the international leg of the Youth Olympic Flame journey.

Samsung also sponsored activities at citycelebrations during the five city journey.

Ng, IOC vice president and chair of the Singapore 2010 organizing committee, was the final torchbearer, handing the torch to Lee Kuan Yew, 86, who served as Singapore’s first prime minister from 1959 to 1990.

"Many people have worked very hard to get here. This is so important for Singapore," said Ng.
